In the ‘Office for the Community Sector Strategic Plan 2008-2010’, there are three important goals:
- Quality and Safety – All services provided by community sector organisations under DHHS funding Agreements are consumer focused, of high quality and safe.
- Integrated Finance and Performance Framework – All DHHS service agreements with community sector organisations are outcomes focused, represent best value for money, and address the needs of the Tasmanian community.
- Strategic Development - a sustainable and growing community sector that is effectively delivering outcome focussed health and human services for all Tasmanians
Working towards achieving these goals, the Strategic Development Unit has facilitated a number of projects on behalf of other OCS Units or initiated and made progress on a number of other important projects. These include:
- Development of a communications strategy incorporating current and upcoming projects within the OCS and importantly, provide a mechanism to facilitate the sharing of information with and between community sector organisations.
- Further develop the communityExpress webpage (www.communityexpress.dhhs.tas.gov.au) into a useful tool and resource for both DHHS and the community sector.
- Worked with consultant Kevin Riley from Riley & Riley on the ‘Integrated Finance and Performance Framework’ Review. This included a number of community sector and DHHS operational units consultations.
- Worked with Michelle Strickland from 3P Consulting on the ‘Peaks Review’.
- Commence work with the community sector with the development of a Partnership Agreement or Compact. Consultations will commence in the New Year.
- Undertake a review of the role and function of the Agency Sector Forum (ASF). The ASF is the peak consultative forum between the DHHS and community sector.
- As a matter or priority, work with the community sector to develop a workforce development strategy.
