Gavin Austin has been appointed CEO of the Tasmanian Health Organisation - North West following a rigorous recruitment process.
Mr Austin has extensive leadership experience in health over many years and a proven track record as THO-North West Acting CEO since February 2011.
Mr Austin received unanimous support from the THO-North West Governing Council to take up the CEO role.
Formerly the THO-North West Director of Finance, Mr Austin has many years of experience as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer for various public and private health organisations in Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Austin said he was committed to improving health services through a strong focus on community and clinical engagement and community partnerships.
"Our number one focus is our patients and the community we serve," Mr Austin said.
"With the introduction of National Health Reforms, we must ensure the services we deliver are relevant, safe and efficient for our local community.
"I am honoured to lead the dedicated staff of THO-NW who are so focussed on the health and wellbeing of their patients and care so much about what they do.
"I acknowledge and thank Jane Holden for her outstanding commitment as CEO from 2008 until February last year.
"As a result of Jane's hard work and achievements I inherited a very well performing and effective health organisation to move forward with."
In his role as CEO of THO-NW, Mr Austin is responsible for five hospitals, 10 Community Health Centres and 1200 full-time equivalent staff.
