Launceston General Hospital’s new $12 million Emergency Department was officially opened on Monday September 10.
The redevelopment, which has more than doubled the size of the old department, is already delivering greater patient care, comfort and safety.
It will help ensure the LGH continues to provide an exceptional level of care into the future.
Patient treatment spaces have increased from 20 to 43 with the department designed to achieve improved patient flow.
The Emergency Department is a crucial piece in the $110 million LGH redevelopment, which includes several paediatric bays, a paediatric waiting room and a purpose-designed fast track area.
The redevelopment also includes an isolation room, additional high acuity bays and a modern pneumatic system for delivering specimens to the pathology department.
