The Department of Health and Human Services’ Radiation Protection Unit is calling for submissions on proposed changes to Tasmania’s radiation laws.
The Radiation Protection Act 2005 and Radiation Protection Regulations 2006cover the safe use, transport, storage and disposal of x-ray units, lasers and radioactive material used in medicine, research, industry and mining.
The proposed changes seek to reduce regulatory burden where there is no safety gain from additional or duplicate regulation; correct legislative provisions with unintended and impractical consequences; provide certainty where ambiguity exists; fix legislative loopholes or anomalies; align legislative provisions with current and best practice.
Email submissions to email@example.com by 5pm Friday 22 June 2012.
