Comments sought on smoke-free areas

The Department of Health and Human Services invites community feedback on the draft Public Health (Smoke-Free Areas) Regulations 2012.

The regulations outline areas to be declared smoke-free under Section 67B (1) (m) & (n) of the Public Health Act 1997.

The proposals aim to reduce environmental tobacco smoke and restrict smoking in certain pedestrian malls and bus malls.

The regulations will further protect people from the harmful effects of environmental tobacco smoke and aim to de-normalise tobacco to children.

Comments on these regulations are invited from individuals, businesses and organisations.
