National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for Health Professionals - Tasmanian Legislation

In July 2006, the Council of Australian Governments agreed to establish a National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (national scheme) for health professionals.

On 3 November 2009, the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 (the national law) received the Royal Assent in Queensland. Legislation adopting the national law has been passed by the parliaments of New South Wales, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.

Draft legislation has been released today for public comment. These Bills set out the bulk of the provisions that will enable the national scheme to commence in Tasmania.
