Mental Health Week grant funding announced

Tasmanian industry and community organisations, big and small,are encouraged to apply for a grant to run a community activity as part of Mental HealthWeek from October7-13.

The Mental Health Week 2012 theme Celebrate, Connect, Grow encourages everyone to do thelittle and large things that increase their wellbeing and that of those around them.

Celebrate, Connect, Grow is about celebrating the positive events in our lives as well as the strengths and values that have helped us through more challenging times.

Mental Health Week isabout connecting with others by paying attention to close relationships or by reaching out and making new friends.

The week is about growing – expanding horizons and trying something new that creates meaning and purpose for us as individuals.

Mental Health Week is a chance to encourage discussion around mental illness, helping reduce the stigma, and to expand knowledge of the services and support available.

Eighteen grants are available ranging from $500 to $2500 for industry and community organisations to run an event that helps achieve Mental Health Week objectives for their communities.
