More affordable homes for Clarendon Vale


 A new subdivision will deliver 47 new lots of land for affordable housing in Clarendon Vale for low income Tasmanians.

A tender has been called for civil works at Bulla Drive and Broga Way to deliver the new lots for residential development.

With this new subdivision, 110 lots of lands will be available for affordable housing development.

The subdivision is funded under the Australian Government's Housing Affordability Fund and administered by the Tasmanian Government.

These new home ownership opportunities are being delivered as part of the Better Housing Futures program announced in 2012.

Better Housing Futures will provide tenants with better services, a local office and more home ownership opportunities, and will work towards more liveable redevelopment in the community.

Community organisation MA Housing will manage around 500 homes in Clarendon Vale and Rokeby as part of the major reform to the state's public housing sector.

This is the first round of homes to be transferred to the community sector under Better Housing Futures, which will see the transfer of up to 4 000 homes.

MA Housing has already started work in the suburbs and will formally open its doors in the first half of 2013.

Interested contractors must be pre-qualified with the Department of Treasury and Finance to tender for projects under the Roads and Bridges Category: R2-Roadworks up to $2 million and F2-Financial level up to $2 million.

The tender will close at 2pm, Friday 22 February 2013.
