Tourism Facilities and Environmental Health

Many Tasmanian tourism businesses that operate in areas with limited access to medical facilities, mobile phone coverage, shops and pharmacies face special challenges in managing public health risks and responding to illness.

The impact of a gastro illness, for example, may not be limited to the health of those affected but can extend to the tourism operation, the local economy and the tourism industry as a whole.

The following resources have been developed in consultation with tourism operators, local government and tourism industry bodies.

They are useful everyday tools to help reduce public and environmental health risks at all tourism operations.
