There are many ways to quit smoking.

For information and support:

  • call the Quitline on 13 7848
  • visit Quit Tasmania
  • Download MyQuitBuddy, a personalised app available for free from Google Play or iTunes
  • Talk to a doctor or pharmacist about products that can reduce your cravings such as nicotine replacement therapies (find your options here) or medications (champix, zyban)

Smoking Cessation Program

The Tasmanian Health Service Smoking Cessation Program provides training to all health care workers on how to ask clients about their smoking, provide brief advice to quit and recommend options to quit smoking.

They also conduct facilitator training courses for anyone in contact with people who smoke to run the No More Butts group support program.

This training is particularly useful for people who work in community or health settings to build skills to provide intensive support for clients to become smoke free.

The Smoking Cessation Program team consists of a statewide coordinator and three regional consultants based within public hospitals.
