Meal and Service Times

Tasmanian Health Service - Northern Region

About us

  • We deliver all your food and beverage requirements, to your bedside, 3 meals a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Service times are approximate and differ slightly between wards. However you will find the times will remain fairly similar from day to day for your particular ward.
  • If you are in Northside, please ask your contact nurse of the day for information regarding daily routines.
  • At all main meals your hot and cold beverages are served directly to your bedside once all trays are handed to patients in the ward.
  • Your finished tray will be collected about a half hour later. The same applies to all mid meals, your used crockery will be collected approximately half hour after service.
  • Food Service Staff are on duty from 6.00am to 8.00pm. If you have any requirements outside these hours please contact the nursing staff looking after you.
  • All our staff work rotating shift rosters, so you will see different faces delivering your meals, however, we aim to provide a consistent, high standard of meals and service.
  • As our team contacts you approximately 18 times each day, we need to know that our service meets your expectations.
  • Please take into consideration that the food you eat is part of your total clinical treatment programme, thus Food Services work closely with Nursing to provide your needs.
  • As Food Service staff are not medically qualified, nurses take responsibility for making sure your meal is appropriate to your treatment.and provide assistance with cutting up and feeding.
  • In an isolation situation a nurse will deliver your meal. Whilst we would like to be able to continue our normal service our access is restricted, but we trust your meals and beverages are delivered hot.
Should you have any problems please contact the nursing staff in the first instance who can arrange a visit by a Food Service Supervisor if required.

We collect, wash and refill your water jug and glass.

The Food Service Monitors will deliver your menu to fill out for tomorrow's breakfast, lunch and tea. It will then be collected and checked for suitability by the Nursing Staff and collected by the Food Service Monitors for return to the kitchen.
