Holman Clinic Appointments

Tasmanian Health Service - Northern Region

The clinic is open between 8.00am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday. We are closed on public holidays and weekends.

After seeing your oncologist and choosing to have radiation therapy, you will receive a phone call from one of our administrative staff. You will be given an appointment time for simulation and usually, depending on your case, a time for a CT scan.

You will be contacted by a radiation therapist when we have an appointment time available for you to commence your treatment. From time to time there are waiting lists to commence radiation therapy. Your radiation oncologist will inform you if the waiting list is significant before you attend.

In any case, if your condition changes, or if you have not been contacted within 2 weeks of your simulation session, please contact the Holman Clinic or call your radiation oncologist.

On your first treatment day a list of all your appointment times will then be given to you. If you have a particular time of the day that is going to suit you better for your treatment, be sure to tell the radiation therapists at simulation. We will do our best to fit in with you but please understand that this cannot always be possible. Similarly, if you need to change on of your appointments, speak to a radiation therapist or receptionist staff and we will try to help, but cannot always guarantee.

The treatment machines are services approximately once every 4 weeks. This occurs on a Friday and there will be no treatment on these days.

Because the treatment is entirely dependant on the operation of machines, we sometimes encounter breakdowns. We have an engineer on hand to rectify any problems as quickly as possible, however, breakdowns can sometimes cause delays or cancellation of your session altogether. If this happens we will try to inform you as soon as possible and reschedule another appointment for the end of your course.

Throughout your course of radiotherapy you will have appointments to see your doctor, a dietician and a social worker. These appointments are made to coincide with your treatment time to minimise waiting time.
